New Areca ARC-1222X with
evaluation and performance analysis
Last week, we received the latest sample from the manufacture which adds
to Areca's entry level SAS RAID controller line up. It is basically an
identical card to the existing ARC-1222 SAS RAID controller with the two
internal mini-SAS ports (8087) converted to external mini-SAS ports
(8088). The processor and on-board memory remains the exact Intel 348IOP
and 512mb DDR2 as before. What's different is a new HDD power management
feature has been added to the controller. To demonstrate how different
(or similar) this card is compare to the existing ARC-1222, we have
again run a couple different benchmark and we acquired the following
results.
Specs:
Intel IOP 348 1.2GHz
DDR2 512MB
2 x 8088 external port
1 x DB9 I2C
Performance Results: *Results are with 8 pcs 500GB Seagate SAS HDD*
RAID 0:
Write: 1090+ MB/s
Read: 820+ MB/s
RAID 5:
Write: 800+ MB/s
Read: 740+ MB/s
RAID 6:
Write: 740+ MB/s
Read: 600+ MB/s
